Market News

FROM SOLACE FARM just in time for Christmas – in addition to our soap, lotion, handmade paper, and knitted items, this week we have our first two hand-processed sheepskin rugs! These are from Fox Farm sheep, tanned here at Solace Farm – we only have these two so get one while you can!
-————————————————————————————————————————————————————
DOGWOOD VALLEY GREENHOUSE is taking orders through December 22 for beautiful Christmas kissing balls. Made with live greens and other natural materials, these balls are about 18" in diameter and come in three styles, shown on the market. Each one is mounted on a sturdy hanger and includes a festive red ribbon bow. They are suitable to hang on a shepherd’s crook or from a chain for a beautiful outside Christmas decoration.

Make a collection of common culinary herbs to give as a gift or to keep for yourself. We have a good selection of herbs available and have expanded the list from last week’s description.

Mints (chocolate, peppermint, pineapple [variegated], spearmint, grapefruit)
Oregano (Greek or variegated)
Rue
Rosemary
Sage, Garden
Thyme (Lemon, English, silver-edged, citrus, lime)
Lemon balm
Stevia (small but healthy)

Please see the description under “Planters and Baskets,” and specify your choice of herbs. If intended as a gift, please order your herb collection early to allow time for custom preparation. Includes planter and will make a unique living Christmas centerpiece as well.

Also, black walnut cakes will be for sale for Christmas or this week along with some spinach and red chard.

BEGINNING AT THIS WEEK’S MARKET we will have a large sheet of paper where you will be able to tell us what kinds of new/different products you would like to see on the market for 2015. We will be having a Growers/Artisans meeting in January to let everyone know what kinds of things have been requested. We can’t promise everything on the list will be available, but we do want to present the possibilities to our Growers and Artisans.

We are also working on a way to show the Grower type (Conventional, Organic, CNG, and No Chem.) and what that really means. This information is available on the website, but it has been requested in a format that is easier to see.
-————————————————————————————————————————————————————-
OTHER IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENTS
If you know of anyone who isn’t receiving our (general) e-mails that we send to the entire customer and grower bases (which would include Order Confirmations that come out of our proprietary software e-mail account that is re-directed via Mailgun.us: We have been working with a tech from BLomand who has done a large amount of troubleshooting and research.

If you have an e-mail address that is through Yahoo or BellSouth (Yahoo actually hosts BellSouth e-mail), you will need to go into your Contacts list and add these two addresses:
cumberlandfm@gmail.com
*@mailgun.us

If you have an e-mail address through BLomand, you will need to go into your Gray Mail and add as a Friend these two addresses:
cumberlandfm@gmail.com
mailgun.us

If you have an e-mail address that is from another provider (gmail should be OK, but you never know…), use one of the iterations above.

Also, if you want an entire domain to be “approved,” you can, for example, enter the following as a Contact/Friend (for gmail, let’s say):
*@gmail.com

If, after doing all this, you are still not receiving our e-mails (at the very least the Saturday Blog opening the market), you will have to get in touch with your e-mail provider and tell them to recognize our address as well as the mailgun address. Just giving them the cumberlandfm@gmail.com address will not be sufficient.

We hope this helps resolve these problems going forward!

Kir and Linda

ANSWERING MARKET E-MAILS
Please DO NOT press “Reply” to our software’s automated e-mails. This includes Blog e-mails (such as this one), your Order Confirmation e-mail, or even Account Balance/Adjustment e-mail. If you need to contact us via e-mail, just compose a new e-mail with an appropriate Subject line and send it to cumberlandfm@gmail.com. This will ensure your e-mail is seen (not always possible with a Reply to Order Confirmations, for example) so we can best help you.

ALSO, we are checking e-mail only several times a week, so it may take a short while for us to get back with you. You are always welcome to call 931.592.3399 (no voice mail) to reach us more quickly. Thanks!
-————————————————————————————————————————————————————-
EBT CAPABILITY IS BACK!
We are pleased to announce that the CFM is once again able to process EBT cards.
-————————————————————————————————————————————————————-
REQUESTING DELIVERY
If you would like your market order delivered, please contact Rachel Lynch, the new Sewanee delivery driver. E-mail: radelo50@yahoo.com or phone 931-598-0774.

Please remember that payment of all CFM orders MUST be made in advance of Tuesday’s delivery. Checks must be mailed in time to be posted to customer accounts before closing of market ordering on Monday. To ensure your account always has a positive balance, the CFM prefers payments in increments of at least $100.00. Mail checks made out to CFM to Kir Strobel, 744 Timberwood Trace, Monteagle, TN 37356.

Should at-home delivery not work for you, your second option is to leave your order at the Center to be picked up by you or a designée by 6 p.m. Wednesday. As with any left-behind order, there will be a $3.00 fee unless that order has been prepaid in full in advance. Don’t forget there is no freezer at the Center for the foreseeable future, so it is imperative your items be picked up in a timely manner.
-———————————————————————————————————————————————————-
PLACING AN ORDER
Before you order, be sure you see the little shopping cart. If you do not, log out and log in again. If this fails, turn off your computer completely and start again. This includes ordering from smart phones.

If you want to leave a comment for a grower, be sure to put it in the “Leave comment for grower” area in RED beneath the item you’re ordering. Placing comments in the market manager section will not be seen by the growers.
-————————————————————————————————————————————————————
PANETTONE COMING FOR THE HOLIDAYS! Be looking for it from Dogwood Farm.
-————————————————————————————————————————————————————
Don’t forget…
If you do not receive an order confirmation within 5 minutes, your order has NOT been placed in the system. E-MAIL OR CALL US to get the problem solved so you will not be disappointed on market day.

Please remember the market closes at 10 a.m. on Monday; therefore, your order must be completed and placed, and you should be signed out of the software.
-————————————————————————————————————————————————————
If you have any questions, please call (931.592.3399, no voice mail) or e-mail (cumberlandfm@gmail.com) us.

Take me to the Market.

Joyful Noise Acres Farm:  The market is open for ordering.

Happy frosty Friday,
I am so excited about all the wonderful offerings this week. I just want to point out a few items and will leave you to browse the market for the rest. The chickens are laying again so there are a lot more eggs from Sissy’s Farm Fresh Eggs and Living Free Farm.
Justin of Conscious Cultures is doing intensive yoga studies so is taking a break from the market so Chrystal Cantrell has stepped in to keep us in fermented beverages. She makes a terrific grape kefir. Plan to sample some this Wednesday.
Farm Fresh Foods is working overtime in the kitchen. Her gingerbread cookies are the best I have tasted. You can get them decorated or plain so that you can decorate them yourself or have a cookie decorating party.
For your baking needs, The Lollie and Pop Shop has their organic vanilla. Aged 6 months in Bourbon before being bottled. Use for your baking needs or to flavor hot drinks.
New this week is organic Chocolate Syrup. Made with Organic Cocao, Organic Turbinado sugar, Organic Himalayan Pink Salt and Lollie and Pop Organic Vanilla. This is perfect for making chocolate milk, hot chocolate, an ice cream topping or to drizzle on pound cake.
We often forget to treat ourselves with kindness so look no further than Simply Oh. She makes wonderful soaps, lotions, household cleaners. A great way to ease into transforming your body and home using clean products is choose one area to concentrate on whether it is house cleaning or body care, and work your way into using non chemical cleansers, one are at a time. Whether it be deodorant, toothpaste, shampoo or soap. Not to mention her beautifully packaged products make wonderful gifts.
We have a fresh suppply of cheese and butter, and fresh ground grits and corn meal.
Thanks for stopping by and supporting your local farmers and growers.

Blessings,
Mary Beth
