Market News

Good Morning! This the week to order for Thanksgiving! Come by early to pick up those last minute surprise items the farmers bring in.

If you pre-ordered a Turkey from Heritage Farm. They need to be picked up and balance paid this Saturday.

Coffee If your looking for the blend we have for sampling at the market, it’s called the Holiday Blend. Java Genesis Coffee Roasters Holiday Blend is a Colombian based blend with a bit of our Mexican and Ethiopian coffees that has rich, warm undertones. It’s a well balanced, awesome cup of coffee.

Farmer of the Day This Saturday Amy Rose of Farm Fresh Foods will be joining us as our Farmer of the Day. Yes, she is a baker but she is also a farmer growing and baking in Cherokee county. She will be bringing pumpkin and sweet potato pies, cranberry salsa and holiday cookies to sample.

Orobianco just in time for Thanksgiving, Orobianco has listed fresh mozzarella for your table this week. Great for parties, family gatherings or just for you. Orobianco’s mozzarella is the freshest in Atlanta.

Green Pasture orders are available for pick up this Saturday. We also have some extra on the shelf.

In the News Check me out in the recent Going Green issue of the Forysth Herald. Quick recap…I helped organize Coal Mountain Elementary Schools first Meet the Farmer day. Lynn Pugh of Cane Creek Farm brought in Sweet Potatoes from her garden and the kitchen staff made sweet potato fries for the kids. Thanks Lynn for your participation and support for this event and Pascale for writing this wonderful article.

South Cumberland Food Hub:  Thanksgiving

Good Morning from the South Cumberland Food Hub. My favorite holiday is almost here! I like to remember that our early ancestors set aside this day to show their thanks for the simple things in life- food, shelter, friendship and freedom. During this holiday think about the things you are thankful for and focus on how Blessed we are to have the simple things. Many people around the world don’t have any of the things I mentioned above. Despite certain things, it is still good to be an American.

We will be closed for the holiday and will re open the week of Dec.1st. I hope everyone has a super Thanksgiving and gets to enjoy it with your loved ones.

Local food is big business and more and more restaurants, stores and schools are getting involved. We are in the middle of a movement that is changing the way America eats and it is very exciting. Here’s a great article to show what is happening in our area, as well as all over the United States.

Champaign, OH:  Going Down The Road Feelin' Bad

Going where the climate suits my clothes…
Going where the chilly winds don’t blow…
(Going Down The Road, Feeling Bad-Grateful Dead)

Yes…this song was on replay in my mind, today, all day. It’s frigid, it’s windy, it’s icy, it’s snowy…it’s tooooo much for this hippie baking market manager!!

I am finally home, finally warming up, finally pouring a glass of wine.

I love that any and all shopping can take place, right here, where I am warm and cozy, with a glass of wine, with tunes, and without any hassles. I shop, I click, I sit back, and know that even though these chilly winds keep blowing, I don’t have to be out fighting them to shop. I get local, I get nutrition, I get a whole lot for the money…it’s a local win!

So, my weekly shopping is done, and I can get back to dreaming about a tropical escape where the climate will certainly suit my clothes:)

Get your orders in…remember…it’s the week before Thanksgiving. We will not operate market hours, next week. Think, think, think…plan ahead and let us do the work!

Peace and Love,
Cosmic Pam
